Unbundled Capital (Case Study)
A visual identity platform for a senior EdTech strategist at the forefront of digital learning and skills-based transformations.
Founded by Lori-Niles-Hormann, a senior EdTech strategist with 25 years of global experience across banking, management consulting, and marketing, 8Levers helps organizations unlock value by aligning technology, processes and human capability. In close collaboration with 8Levers, I developed a visual identity system to enhance Lori’s presentations at speaking engagements and to engage audiences across marketing platforms.
The digital brand guide provides an overview of the visual identity guidelines, so that the 8Levers brand can be preserved in future applications.
The project began with the development of an icon inspired by the concept of eight levers, combined with a refined and elegant wordmark. The minimalism design approach was strategically considered for seamless integration across social media, web platforms, and presentation designs.
Extensive design research led to the selection of a modern sans-serif font that is highly legible at smaller text sizes whilst exhibiting interesting characteristics crafted for large headlines.
A series of custom illustrations exhibit an unexpected combination of colours and shapes integrated into a figure 8, adding a memorable and modern expression throughout the brand.
The 8Levers website balances the expressive custom illustrations with a modern and simple composition; a sustainable solution that can be easily updated and refreshed with new content without compromising the original design intent.
Versatility was a key principle driving the development of the visual system –
from illustrations that create immediate impact on social media or in presentations, to a font with enough character to stand on its own. Colours, textures, and shapes are applied consistently, making the 8 Levers identity intuitive and adaptable across various forms of communication.
